Tracked Cardboard experiment

This test keeps camera tracking running while drawing separate left and right eye views. It does not switch to ordinary VR.

Headset calibration needs a wearer check. First inspect the split screen without wearing the headset. Keep the rear camera completely clear. Start stationary; use a clear space and someone watching for a short movement check. This experiment cannot detect obstacles.

Set your position on the main viewer’s map first, then return here. Position and eye height below start from that browser’s saved viewpoint. Start tracking, mount the phone, face the starting direction and look slightly down and confirm Align here in the headset. Placement is committed only at confirmation.

Starting viewpoint and experimental optics

Eye separation is the wearer’s pupil spacing; lens spacing comes from the QR profile.

Headset and phone setup

The supplied profile is Wow! Stuff ImmersiverseVR 2.0. Measure the lit screen with a ruler while the phone is landscape: width left to right, height bottom to top. Measure the gap from the headset’s bottom tray to the lit screen’s bottom edge. CSS pixels cannot supply these measurements.

Both landscape orientations can be configured. Keep the chosen mounting fixed; an orientation change ends tracking.

Calibrate head offset and optics

Offsets locate the midpoint of your eyes in the browser’s display-oriented tracked view: X right, Y up, Z towards you, in millimetres. Zero is an unverified starting assumption. Refine while turning around a marked head position. Angles are degrees.

Tap to open the headset menu or confirm its highlighted item. Hold for 300 ms to change proposal. Looking away cancels dwell. With the menu closed, look almost straight down for two seconds to open it without a button. Physical tracking controls movement.
